I Cloned a larger Hard Drive to put in my XP 32-bit PC.

After I got the new HDD in I increased the size of the paging file.

I was thinking having a larger paging file would stop Firefox from
crashing but Firefox has crashed since the new HDD got put in.

While opening the front panel I saw the plastic spring on the power
button was broke and used Super Glue to put the parts back on the button.

I had tried 527 Craft glue first, but it didn't hold the broken pieces together.

it is actually better to add more memory than it is to increase the swap file... memory is much much faster than spinning rust...

firefox has a means to report its crashes... have you been allowing those reports to be sent to them for analysis? are you running the latest version? it
may be time to let that old OS go since it is no longer supported and more programs that might have operated on it are also no longer supported in that environment...

The Motor Shaft is the only part of the HDD that can rust, isn't it?

The Motherboard has room for 4 1GB DDR 400 RAM sticks.
The pc came with two 512 MB sticks and I added two 1GB sticks to
    total 3GB.

My understanding is a 32-bit OS can address 3.8GB MAX.

Do You think it would be worth it for me to pull the two sticks that
HP placed in their computer and place two 1GB sticks in those slots?

Another idea I'd like to learn about is that I've read that a AMD
4800+ CPU could be put in the 3800+ slot in this pc.
Would I have to change the Clock Crystal if I did that?

I haven't checked, but I'd guess the price for 1GB DDR 400 RAM sticks
and a AMD 4800+ CPU (because they are "old technology") wouldn't hurt
    my wallet much.

I send Crash Reports to Mozilla every time one pops up on the screen
for Firefox or Thunderbird, and usually type some comments before I
    click the Button.

I usually see the Crash Reporter on the Monitor when I come back in the
room after being away for awhile.
Some times they appear while I'm using the pc.

I Click on Help - About to see if either of those programs have Updates.

I try to be safe with my out of date XP pc.

ASKWOODY had a list of KB's for updating XP in a article a month or so ago.
I hadn't applied any of them.

The thing runs bad enough now (slow), no telling what those KB's might do
    after they get put added.
I'd be sure to make a Back Up before adding any of them so I could go
back to how the computer was before doing that.

The spring and button are one piece of plastic.

The 'spring' portion is a flat wavy pattern that is about one inch wide
and about one and a half inch long on each side of the Power button.

I took photos of the broken part, so I'll send one or two pictures to Your Email address.

it is jokingly called "spinning rust" because the stuff on the platters that holds the magnetic field is iron oxide or similar just like the stuff on reel-to-reel and cassette tapes ;)

ahhhh... you're using a 32bit OS so no, adding more than 3Gig likely won't do anything for you...

4800+ CPU could be put in the 3800+ slot in this pc. Would I have to change the Clock Crystal if I did that?

there is no clock crystal like there used to be yonks ago... at least not anything that we can deal with...

I haven't checked, but I'd guess the price for 1GB DDR 400 RAM sticks

for ~$500US, one can get a very nice 8-core system with 16Gig of RAM and assemble it themselves... case and all with a 500W or larger power supply and a
    1TB hard drive with a DVD reader/writer...

the problem here may be that they are not doing anything because you're running
an old TBird on an unsupported, EOLed OS... have you actually gone to the mozilla bug tracker and looked to find your reports and what their resolution is?

I have 160 Gb HDD's in both of my Win10+ machines, and FF has never
crashed, whatever size the paging file happpens to be.
