I am soon going to need a tossser that I can run under Mandrake 8.2, is Squish ported to Linux successfully? If so where can I get the binaries.

And will my OS/2 configuration work?

You will likely need to compile the code.....

Obtain source from http:\\maximus.sourceforge.org\

You will want to incorporate the latest changes in CVS.

While I've got it running under a Debian system, you might hit some glitches. If so, ask here or (probably better) in the Muffin echo.

Source for squish (and sqafix in the CVS tree), if I remember correctly) is part of the Maximus BBS source code tree.

Bob already wrote about the squish port for *ix. You may alternatively want to take a look at hpt from the Husky package available under <http://husky.sf.net>.

I have built Max & Squish from the source before. It needs work I think
but for the most part it works quite well. Squish & Sqafix seem to be
in the best shape.

I think the log in procedure on sourceforge.net has changed recently
so it may not be quite the same as what is written in the QUICKSTART
file. If your on the maximus sourceforge page hit the CVS link and
it'll tell you the commands needed to access CVS.

Actually Yes and No.... There may be some path editing that you need to do to your config files depending on your setup. And I also got bit initially with the case sensitivity under Linux / case insensitivity under OS/2 when I initially ported my control files over to Linux. Since then more fixes have gone into the CVS version to handle the issue, so it may go better for Gordon.

I'll agree with you that the squish and sqafix code is probably in better shape
than the maximus code is for running under Linux. Unfortunately, I need to let
my current contract finish and wait a little bit before submitting changes again to the source code....

caught by that issue somewhere or other down the line.

Yep, I have found all of max/squish/sqafix to work quite nicely 32
bit wise. On the amd64 I seem to have some problems. I did telnet
into my own max board a couple of times but never did get it going
remotely so I could go live with it.

I miss the 'b' command from max's message menu, I don't think any
other package has that kind of functionality.

Having the free time is tough to do I know. I've been staying
away from the muffin echo b/c I don't want BS coding BBS stuff
when he should be studying/resting. We'll get there I'm sure
when the time is right.
