• Polling FidoNet after posting messages

    From Plt@MEGABBS to All on Thu Apr 9 19:00:12 2026
    Hello

    I The only reply that I received was I was polling vert to much and every time after posting message on FSXNet and Fidonet the system is calling and sending out the messages to my hib. I already changed all of the hubs to hold and changed all the fidonet events to 5 call outs per day but that did not fix the issue.

    Well DoveNet is a QWK network handled by Vert so that's unrelated.

    As for FTN network polling on outgoing.... got things set to Crash by chance?

    TBF I don't see why this is an issue but... well... it's just one of many issues you seem to be having right now, isn't it?

    I suggested you change the event interval to once a day. Did you?

    Bummer.

    Read some documentation/instructions.

    Strange how nobody else has this problem. But wait, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF
    YOUR "PROBLEMS" are this way, aren't they?

    Should we apply some troubleshooting logic to try and figure out where

    you have to edit sbbs\ctrl\phil.ini and put
    RETARD=OFF
    at the bottom of the file.

    I've dealt with him a half a dozen times already over the years, whether it be Synchronet, Mystic, or whatever other BBS softwares he decided to setup at the time.

    Some may even know that there was once a "famous Phil quotes" link on the wiki? It could even still be around if you look hard enough. :D
