    Hello, All.

Speaking of free, I am attempting to work on an old favorite BBS software of mine, Shotgun Professional BBS. The source is out there, but I am trying to find two commercial libraries that are no longer available: Async Professional for DOS and the entire set of Genus Microprogramming SVGA libraries. Can anyone help me find those?

    Later,
    Sean

never heard of that but then again, i don't do graphical coding like that... i've always done my own libs and have forgotten more about so much than i can even recall having once known

PS: did you ever get the VFOSSIL stuff you were looking for? i responded to your message in that other echo but never saw a response from you...

They released the Delphi and C++ version, but not the DOS version.

Well, this was for a shareware BBS package that did have some nice features, so
it's to be expected he'd use a commercial library.

Yes, I did, thanks. I got three different archives including the full original
    VFOSS_IBM archive.

hunh? do you mean not the PASCAL version? even so, it may be possible to recreate it from one or both of the others...

Whatever the case, I am trying to find those libraries.

i'm still confused... are you saying that the C(++) flavor isn't oriented to DOS? delphi stuff can also be DOS (actually non-GUI) or windows (read as GUI) oriented...

Correct. The available APRO versions will not work for what I need. This was written using Borland Pascal which does not have any Delphi syntax in it. It was actually developed under OS/2 using Borland Pascal.

I have it somewhere. Problem is it's on a diskette among some 500 other, and
most likely on a 5 1/4" diskette that I no longer have equipment to read.

But I have it installed in my TP7 installation, so if you can give me the names of the units you need, I might be able to find them for you.

I guess, however, that will not help you if you cannot find the other package?

Also, I strongly recommend not using the APRO units. They were full of tricks and cheats that can make your program unstable, so, if possible, it's better to try to write around the APRO units. Yes, I know, it takes a lot of work... :)

That's normally where I have to find things I need-buried on a backup somewhere. However, most of mine are on CDs and 3.5" diskettes but a lot of those can be unreadable too.

But I have it installed in my TP7 installation, so if you can give
me the names of the units you need, I might be able to find them for
    you.

I'm assuming all of them: in the "instructions", the author said "Async Professional for DOS". I know that he uses Async Pro for the file transfer protocols (he told me that once years ago).

I guess, however, that will not help you if you cannot find the
    other package?

Probably not. I'd have to completely gut the package of its SVGA capability which might be more work than it's worth.

Also, I strongly recommend not using the APRO units. They were

of tricks and cheats that can make your program unstable, so, if
possible, it's better to try to write around the APRO units. Yes, I
know, it takes a lot of work... :)

Believe it or not, that's what the author told me too! However he also said that at the time, he didn't want to write his own code so he used Async Pro.

Oh well, I'll figure it out one way or the other. <G>

Sean, I think the source archive for the System75 BBS has got the Apro code in it.
