From Joe Schweier@1:275/400 to All on Fri Jan 20 11:08:26 2006
    Hello everybody.

I have been playing with OS2 and BBSes and I have been having a problem. I have SIO and VMODEM installed. They work as good as Iknow. I have been making
calles out to other BBSes with FD/2 and I think things work good. Anyway, I have some issues with doors though...

I have VX00 loaded in the config.sys, no paramiters... so that it loads each time a dos window is open... Anyway, when I load the BBS up stand-alone, no mailer, it'll pass to the doors... if I use the BBS with a mailer it'll choack and say that the comport is being used by something else...

    How do I fix this???

    Thanx

    Joe

I just responded to you in another echo about this, but... make sure that you have the - parameter on each node you're setting up in CONFIG.SYS with SIO.

    Something like:

    COM1(38400,3E8,4,-)

Very important. That - tells SIO to share the comport with DOS. Otherwise, it
locks the comport only for OS/2-native programs.

No problem. You wouldn't believe how much hair-pulling I did until I found that out too-for some weird reason, it's poorly documented.
