• HTTP downloads return "1"?

    From Björn Wiberg@2:201/137 to g00r00 on Sun Mar 20 10:21:36 2022
    Hello g00r00!

    I just tried out the Download via WEB option via the MIS HTTP server, but
    after getting the URL from Mystic (http://scbbs.nsupdate.info:50080/dlreq?764aaef6) and visiting it, all I get
    is a web page with two empty lines, a "1", and another empty line on it.

    The MIS log shows:

    + 2022.03.20 10:18:43 HTTP > Connect on slot 1/10 (192.168.1.1)
    + 2022.03.20 10:18:43 HTTP 1-HostName router.asus.com
    + 2022.03.20 10:18:43 HTTP 1-Country Unknown (-)
    + 2022.03.20 10:18:43 HTTP 1-DLREQ: GET /dlreq?764aaef6 HTTP/1.1
    + 2022.03.20 10:18:43 HTTP 1-Authenticated user: Zip
    + 2022.03.20 10:18:43 HTTP 1-List Batch
    + 2022.03.20 10:18:44 HTTP > Connect on slot 1/10 (192.168.1.1)
    + 2022.03.20 10:18:44 HTTP 1-HostName router.asus.com
    + 2022.03.20 10:18:44 HTTP 1-Country Unknown (-)
    + 2022.03.20 10:18:44 HTTP 1-404: favicon.ico (192.168.1.1)

    I also tried with wget but got the same "1" page.
    Am I perhaps doing something wrong?

    The FTP counterpart, by the way, seems to be working just fine!

    Thanks in advance!

    Best regards
    Björn

    Check the wiki. I forget the exact details but I think you need that, at least it worked for me when I tried.

    Yep, although it is empty. I tried putting a sample page there to see if it made any difference, but, no, still got the same "1" page on downloads...

    It will serve an index.html if it exists.

    There is a feature to serve downloads from http. I have never used that feature myself so I don't know how it works.

    There is a dlreq.zip at http://mysticbbs.com/downloads/prealpha that might help but I couldn't say since I have not tried that.

    Thanks a lot! I unpacked http://mysticbbs.com/downloads/prealpha/dlreq.zip into the Mystic webroot/cfg directory, and now I get a download page:

    Thanks! Yep, keeping fingers crossed that someone has got this running already... =)

    I also noticed that the data files for each download batch (*.dlreq in the Mystic data directory) contain the IP number of the BBS user -- I'm not sure how picky dlreq is about that, but perhaps it could cause some problems for e.g. Telnet-over-the-Web (fTelnet) connections or otherwise tunneled connections (TELNETS connections through stunnel, modem connections through mgetty performing a local Telnet session...), where the IP address known to Mystic differs from the one of the user's web browser...

    For some reason I didn't see the original message posted here, but here are some notes for Web downloads:

    1. Create the webroot directory as configured in HTTP server.
    2. Create www and cfg subdirectories off of the webroot
    3. Download the dlreq.zip templates in the link above and put them in cfg

    Sorry, no, I haven't heard back on this specific issue from g00r00 yet.

    Also there appears to be a problem with my posts to this echo (g00r00 doesn't receive them, neither does his uplink, for unknown reason).

    But hopefully he sees your message and will respond here in the echo.

    While I may be in the seenbys, I'm not seeing any of the original messages posted by Bjorn.

    Can you (and/or others) by chance post me one or more of Bjorn's original messages with kludges included, please? It may not help much but at least I can take a look at the paths they are taking to get to systems other than myself. Netmail would be fine as to not disrupt the echo.

    All I can go off of right now is the original messages that were replied to, which doesn't help since the messages I'm seeing are originating there and not on Bjorn's system.

    Your reply to him has arrived here via Tommi's system, but again, I don't have the original that you replied to in my message base. Here must be how the original message arrived to you, since you posted it in your message:

    @SEEN-BY: 103/705 124/5016 153/757 154/10 201/0 137 203/0 124 221/0 1 230/0 @SEEN-BY: 240/5832 280/464 5003 292/854 8125 301/1 320/219 341/234 396/45 @SEEN-BY: 2452/250 3634/24
    @PATH: 201/137 0 203/0 280/464 153/757

    And this is how I see your reply to that same message:

    SEEN+BY: 120/616 123/10 129/215 134/100 153/105 757 7083 154/10 30 40 50 700 SEEN+BY: 203/0 218/840 220/90 221/6 226/18 227/201 229/310 664 280/464 301/1 SEEN+BY: 770/1 2320/105 3634/12
    @PATH: 153/757 221/6 154/10

    Another thing that baffles me is that I'm fairly certain I have multiple feeds to this echo. So I should be getting the original from at least *one* of those systems while the rest would be duped. Makes me wonder if someone else is adding my system to the seenbys early on which would mark the message as a dupe every time it arrives here. With that said, there is not a single message from Bjorn in my dupe base either.

    Yes, I will do that shortly. I'll crash them directly to your node so you may find them in your insecure inbound. Just a heads up.

    If your node is getting added to the seenbys early enough in the path you may not see any dupes, but I don't know where it is getting added.

    Makes me wonder if someone else is adding my system to the seenbys early on which would mark the message as a dupe every time it arrives here. With that said, there is not a single message from Bjorn in my dupe base either.

    If your node is in the seenbys then connected nodes would not send you any more copies since it appears the message already went to your node.

    Yes, it is just a hobby but the issue can probably be cleared up if we can figure why that happens, it shouldn't.

    Yes, I suspect it's something accidental. Shouldn't be hard to fix if we can figure out what it is.
