• Feedback Issue

From Mickey@1:229/307 to All on Sun Jan 23 19:36:57 2022
Hello all. About the time I recently upgraded to '48' my board started opening the network browser instead of the Email base for Feedback to Sysop requests. I have a Netmail and an E-Mail area set-up but can't figure out how to fix it. It was working ok before. The main menu entry hasen't changed. It still reads option MW and /to:sysop

    Ideas?

Check your settings for "Feedback To" in the general settings within the configuration.

Thanks for responding. I still have 'Feedback to' set to Mickey as it should. If I change the settings from MW /TO /SUBJ /ADDR to anything else, it brings up the netmail address browser. I have /ADDR set to my Fido address so the message goes to Netmail and sits there, and won't export.

I'm short one setting here, and 5 brain [cells]

Sorry I am a little confused as to what you are trying to accomplish so let me take a step back and try to better understand.

Can you give me a explaination of what you want to accomplish?

The MW menu command is used to send a private message to the local e-mail box and is unrelated to netmail so you wouldn't want to use that to send netmail.

If you are trying to create a "Send feedback to SysOp" type function then you would use MW with the option data of: "/TO:Sysop" and Mystic will send a private message to whatever user name is set to "Feedback To" in the configuration.

... When all else fails, read the instructions

    I've done that alot lately.

I use MW twice here. During logoff where I use /TO:Mickey (easily changed) and it goes to local email for input. Also in the main menu, but here it takes you to the netmail node selector. If I add /ADDR 690:1/100 it goes straight to the editor. It works of course but not as intended. Strange huh?

I think what has happened is your Email base (the first base in the message base editor) is set to "Base Type: Netmail". Change that back to "Local" and it should stop doing that.

I'll also make it so you can no longer change that to anything other than
Local in the next version so prevent this confusion.

Let me know how it goes!

Good idea to hardwire it. Well as it turns out, my netmail area was #1 and email was #78 so if feedback was going to use area #1 by default, it simply wasn't going to fly. It works fine now.

Thanks for your help my friend. Couldn't have seen the obvious without you.

    Cheers!

Yeah it has caused confusion before. The first base is the local e-mail base and its not supposed to be changed and the editor shouldn't even allow you to delete or move it.

Unfortunately it was allowing you to change the base type and the network address so I created a monster there :)

Thanks for your help my friend. Couldn't have seen the obvious without you.

Anytime glad we got it sorted out! Hopefully the changes I made in the next version will make it less confusing so thanks for exposing that flaw!
