Hey g00r00 whats the chance of adding a bot check section in mystic. I
know there are add ons to do it and I had one til I upgraded to 47 now
it doesnt work. I reinstalled it but when I run mplc botcheck1_2.mps
it says its not in the script directory. which it is it was working
fine til I upgraded so I have no idea why it wont work. Should be a
fairly easy add on I would think just make it so it could be turned
off if others dont want to use it. But i'm not the expert maybe it
cant be added I'm just asking!
    Thanks Sam

I am not really sure what the botcheck script you mention actually does in order to implement it into Mystic. Can you explain more about it?

When you run mplc -T what happens? Does it compile your script? Where is your script and mplc located? mplc should be in your root Mystic directory. If you only run mplc <scriptname> it is going to look in the root Mystic directory for the script.

Another thing to note is this thing from the upgrade instructions:

    - If you disabled fallback in any of your themes then you must go into the
theme editor and reset the values for fallback as these have been split
into specific fallback settings for each category (menu, prompts, etc)

what is does if a bot telnets in or whatever you use to login to a bbs
it say hit esc twice to go to login if they dont hit esc twice with in
30 sec it doesnt let them procced into the bbs for login in.

the program is called pn-bck12.zip phenom production.. I think it
could be added pretty easily into mystic
I'm pretty sure you have seen it it When you run the script I get
    Compiling: botcheck1_2mps.mps
    ERRORS:
Error in botcheck1_2mps.mps (Line 1, Col 0): File not found:
    botcheck1_2mps
    ps
    Results: 1 files, 1 errors, 1 directories, 0.00 seconds

Im running it from the root my script is in the themes\default\scripts
I hope I'm explaining it right!

Can't you do this in an MPL script during the prelogin sequence? I have
this kind of check implemented via wcBASIC on my WINS system BEFORE the
caller gets asked for his user name,

I guess my question would be: What is the difference between a bot sitting at the "Press ESCAPE" prompt versus sitting at a "Enter your username" prompt?

I can whip up a sample startup.mps script to do the escape thing and include it with the next release. You could also do something similar with the "System Password" function. If you set it to a value of "BBS" and then edit the System Password prompt to read "Type BBS and press enter to enter: " then you will get
a similar effect (except they have type BBS instead of escape twice).

Yes you can and there are a few that do those things. You can do it without MPL by using a system password too.

Hey sorry forgot about this request. I will upload a new A48 build tonight that has a botcheck.mps that does the escape twice thing.

Thank you sir, just tried this out and it works pretty slick.

I did copy something over from smooth/stackfault's botcheck.mps which I liked:

    Begin
// Skip completely if using SSH (user already authenticated anyway)
    If ACS('OS') Then
    break

Not sure if you'd want to include this (or something similar) in your example script as well?

Yeah thats not a bad idea! But I must warn you the actual authentication of the user will come after connect.mps is ran, so you don't really know if they gave you a real username/password yet at this point.
