• Latest prealpha build

From Robert Wolfe@1:116/18 to All on Mon Nov 30 18:03:59 2020
    Hi all!

Downloaded and installed the latest prealpha build on my CentOS 8.x-
based laptop. It runs fine, however there are two issues I am seeing:

    1. QWKPOLL does not poll when I tell it to. It just displays the program information line and then returns to the command prompt. I actually have
to use the ftp command line client to transfer the QWK packet nad
then run qwkpoll in import mode to import the packets. The same thing in reverse when I have outgoing mail.

    2. When I go to reply to a message when logged in, I hit ENTER to access
the defaults, but then I just get returned to the message menu without ever getting tossed into the editor like I am supposed to.

So, am I doing something wrong here? I have not "upgraded: my Windows
Mystic system yet for this very reason.

... Heisenberg may have slept here.

Have you configured a QWK network, is it set to active, and is it set to "Member Type: Node"? Is the archive type and packet ID set to something?

Did you perform a fresh install or is this an upgrade? If its an upgrade and you haven't upgraded in a while there are probably things you need to do to make it work. Do the logs say anything?

And since its Linux do you understand how access and ownership works in Linux file systems? It could be something along those lines too.

Actually have it set to member type "hub" IIRC.

Of course. I would not have earned my Linux certification or be a senior
Linux engineer where I work if I didn't understand how access and ownership works :)

The "Member Type" should be set to "Node", give that a shot.

When you're set to run in as a Hub QWKPOLL will not try to connect to anything because you are the Hub (ie nodes connect to you to send/receive messages).
