• Using Menucmd ('MW'...) in an MPL Script

From Michael Batts@1:227/114 to All on Thu May 7 23:08:51 2020
As a menu option in startup.mpl Im using:
    MenuCmd ('MW','/to:sysop /subj:Feedback');
to allow callers to send a message to the sysop. They are obviously not logged in at the time of execution. This worked in A43 but appears to be broken in A45. Is there a known change that disabled this functionality or is this a bug? I have looked through the update notes and see nothing that explains
    the problem.

    Thanks in advance!

You may want to begin with upgrading to the latest prealpha. I'm fairly certain there were multiple releases of A45 as well as A46. If the problem still occurs in A46, then report your findings.

That said, do you actually have an account with "Sysop" as the name? If so, nevermind I asked. ;)

Where is the correct place to look for the very latest version? I have no problem trying that.

Actually, I do not. However, I tested this thoroughly in V44. I guess I should go back to the setup and confirm that it works from a menu.

    Thanks Nick!

Did you set your SysOp Name in "System Configuration > General Settings"?

    Hey g00r00!

Did you set your SysOp Name in "System Configuration > General Settings"?

I did. Turns out the write acs on the Email base was s255. I must have
changed that at some point after testing and implementing the startup.mps. Cleared the acs and it works great now!

Thanks for your time and advice!

    Hey Nick!

    Thanks, Ill update this weekend!

Try changing /to:Sysop to /to:Stizzed and it may work for you.

After some advice from g00r00 I found that the send acs on my email base was s255. I screwed up at some point and set it to sysop level, effectively blocking anyone from sending emails. FIXED!

    Thanks for the help!!!

Oof, glad you figured it out, as I probably wouldn't have even thought of/suggested that. ;)
