So in this case the FTN <> News gateway is at 3:770/3 and that in turn talks to news.bbs.nz to send/recieve the news group content etc.

One more thing I'd like to ask about the matter. How recourse heavy is getting user subscribed groups down and so. If I recall correctly fropm back in the days NNTP servers were quite light weight on other but disks screamed like maniacs .. but that was in 90's so :)

Well there's still quite a bit of activity in some groups. Some are full of spam while other seem to be quite good (like this one :)) so your mileage varies. It's not however as mad as it was in the 90s for volumes, especially if you just look at text only newsgroups and ignore any binary stuff. In my case I only carry text only newsgroups and filter the others out. Then it's just down to which newsgroups a BBS wants to carry that dictates the amount of FTN style gated packets they want to / will receive per day.

Makes sense. I'll need to sort this thing out when got time to focus. Now I'm trying another client for the moment.

And yes. My plan is text only. I need no binaries on the BBS, when I get around
to get that up. Not exactly pole position on my priority list :D

But eventually I'll get it done. I have plans you see, but life happened. Also haven't been active on BBS' lately ... like in several months now. Should get my act together thoug.

    Thanks again Paul!
