• MPL docs?

From Ryan Fantus@3:770/3 to All on Wed Nov 29 12:57:42 2017
Hey, this is likely a stupid question, but for the life of me I can't find MPL docs other than what's on the wiki page. Those docs are great but they feel a bit light. Is the entire thing documented anywhere, like an API doc or javadoc would be?

There are some floating around somewhere maintained by Gryphon but I don't know how accurate or outdated it is now. I don't even know what is on the Wiki at the moment.

I really just need to go in and document things but finding the time is difficult. If you have any questions feel free to ask though.

I can work on adding Gryphon's doc (with attribution to the Wiki) but not
being an active MPL user my only fear is not doing the publishing justice..
and of course there's been a bunch of changes since then .. but I guess
adding the original docs and updating them is the better way to go..

Adding the original docs to the wiki is a good thing (if they're not already there), and would create the starting point for others to modify.

Not sure how the wiki is setup, if only certain people have access to add/modify, but the people that are willing and can do it properly, should be granted to take some weight off g00 for sure.

    Nick

Yeah its just one of those things that I would be the best to do since I know everything and I can reference the code for reminders. It sort of the same thing for display codes, menu commands, etc.

I think there are 3 of us who have access to work on the Wiki. One of the things Gryphon was going to try to work on was the MPL/Python stuff since he has been well-involved in pushing MPL to its limits over the years.

I haven't kept up with what has been done in that area, but I know that I
have personally neglected the Wiki and the things I need to work on lately.

I think just focus on the code/dev as you are and as Alpha's come out we try
to ensure the key info related to the alpha release etc. is up on the Wiki. That's what I have been doing and it's been working quite well I feel. I had also been working on various config screen pages etc... but I can see some of this will also need updating along with refs to MIS vs MIS2 in the coming months. :)

Yeah its a body of work to be looked at for sure... I'm torn between doing something sooner than later in order to get mostly current info up online vs putting the job exclusively on your shoulders to ensure we're getting 100% current info on line. I tend to favour getting the former up and running
there so it's at least helpful (in part or perhaps in whole) to someone
looking for info in a certain area.. it also means you don't feel like it's another ball in the air.

That said, my focus should be finishing off the areas of Mystic -cfg that I started on most recently... :) I will aim to do some more on those pages over the coming weeks... but once A36 hits I can see a bit of work to update what
    I have already written.

    Best, Paul

I wronte some update docs some time ago. It was circa 110A59. A lot has changed since then, but many of the things in it are still accurate.

    You can browse it at:
    http://cyberia.darktech.org >> (T)extfiles >> Mystic BBS Docs and Info >> Mystic Programming Language >> mpl_110a59.doc.

Or you can log on to Cyberia, and find it in the (T)extfiles section, like above. You can prolly also find it in the file downloads section too.

Yep a lot of stuff will need to be redone!

I just finished killing off the old MIS entirely this morning, so its now unusable and a thing of the past starting with the next test build.

My list of things to do is gigantic...

I think anyone in their right mind would argue that you're doing just fine. This is a hobby, don't burn yourself out. ;)
