• Mystic & NNTP Feed

From Robert Wolfe@1:116/18.314 to All on Sat Oct 28 04:04:50 2017
    Hi all!

I was wondering how Mystic gets messages from newsgroups? I have an
uncensored NNTP based news server set up and I was wondering if it were possible to get newsgroup articles into and out of Mystic via NNTP and if so, how?

An NNTP feed in to Mystic needs to come in via gated FTN packets, like the fsxNet 21:1/10 HUB offers (see stats echo for an idea of what's being passed
    to nodes etc.).

The NNTP server that Mystic runs is just to server up NNTP connectivity to a suitable news reader client so you can read and post to echomail via it. But there's no native link to hook a NNTP server in/out of Mystic's NNTP server.

    Hope that makes some sense.

    Best, Paul

Yeah, but it would be nice if one could import directly from NNTP as well.

    well.

I would need a NNTP server account somewhere to develop and maintain that and
    I do not have one.

I can offer that to you if you wish. You mean a NNTP login you can
send/receive from via standard port 119 ? Sure can :)

Read access is open by default at news.bbs.geek.nz on port 119 but I can set you up with write access as well if you want it.

Email me at robert.wolfe@robertwolfe.org and I can give you access to my
server if your IP address that you will be connecting from doesn't change
    that often :)

Email me at rwolfe@winserver.org and I will see what I can do to get you
set up here on my end. Do you have a static IP address or an IP that does
    not change that often?
