I was a big user of swappano and pianofiles and the like before they all got taken down.

For those unfamiliar, these are sites where people list music books they have and want and can exchange pdf files with other users.

It's well known that these books go out of print quickly and not many are produced, especially for older bands. Used, some of these books can list for hundreds of dollars (or insert currency here).

1966 Gary Lewis and the Playbooks is listed at $399.99 + shipping. Elton John Super Deluxe 1977 songbook is listed at $599 for buy it now or $389 if you
    want to bid on it.

So, a lot of people share their pdf scans.

I just wondered if there's any one else around who collect/swap songbooks and would be interested in swapping lists.

I was just reading that the closing of pianofiles was mentioned
in 2014. Swappano was a pheonix rising in the ashes, but the
    catalog never built up?

Meanwhile, I think some people have simply turned to ScribD for
    postings of existing copies.

Wow. I see a "vintage" copy of the 1966 Gary Lewis one for
    $64USD on ebay right now.

I sold a handful of "vintage" songbooks at my shop for about $50
    each, one time.

Not myself, but I find current songbooks "good enough" Hal
Leonard publishes many songs in book form. I don't see anything
    over $25USD.

Swappano had a large number of users. I'd get several requests a month for sheets that I had. It was a good resourse.

    Yeah, probably.

    Should have asked more :)

I have no interest in current music, most of my interest is oldies to 80's.

Hope you find the right alternative.

Indeed! Here are a few that I still had records of:

There was a Metallica and a Stairway to Heaven songbook as well.
Most of them were just laying about in a pile. They got snatched
    up within a few weeks.

As above, I hope find a good source.
