    Greetings All!

Getting around to looking at max/squish os2. Is there a utility available or included in max that will import areas from squish or is it all manual enter each area?

When I ran Maximus there were many such helpers and I don't recall now which ones might be useful to you.

If you can find a site that has the files from the MAXFDN, or maybe it was MAX_FDN you might find something there.

Some of those files can be found at filegate.net but I don't recall which directory.

    maxsync2.zip :

    - MaxSync V2.0 Message Areas -
    -+- Syncronizer by Greg Matheson---
For OS/2 systems, at last a program to
    syncronize Squish and Maximus. Creates
    msgarea.ctl areas from Squish.cfg Creates
    Squish.cfg from msgarea.ctl Supports
msgdivisions and Seal, reports on max areas
with no squish entry and squish areas with no
max entry. Now your BBS will be updated when
new Squish areas arrive, no more dead message
areas if they have been dropped by Squish.

    ===============================================

i used it back in the days, but now i've cheated and
wrote a bash script which uses ftp to log in to the os/2
grabs the squish.cfg and then uses ftp to log back and
    pushes the new msgarea.ctl :)

    regards,
    Daniel

There's several utilities that can do that. Since you're on my BBS, you can look in the BBS.MAXIMUS filearea or grab the ALLFILES listing to look in that.

I did it by hand since I don't mind doing text files. I did write a utility to import Night Owl CDs into FILEAREA.CTL.

This is one reason I enjoyed using FastEcho with Max/2. Whenever new
mssage areas were auto-created, it updated the msgarea.ctl file
automatically so all you needed to to was a siltp max :)
