• Sending Netmail

From Robert Wolfe@1:116/17 to All on Sun Aug 27 19:06:02 2017
    Hi all!

Have a problem sending netmail within Maximus. I can read netmail just fine since it is in *.MSG format that FastEcho creates.

When I go to send a netmail message, I don't get prompted for a node address, and when I DO go to send an address in username@node format, I get a message back from Maximus saying that it cannot find the user. Is there something I am
missing in my msgarea.ctl file by any chance that is causing this issue?

Any pointers in the right direction to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

this sounds like you don't have the area specified as netmail... it isn't asking you for the address which means it thinks it is a local or echomail area... when it says it cannot find the user, that's also an indicator that it is looking internally... i don't know what the settings are as i don't currently have a max system installed here...

Ok, I will have to go back and see what adjustments I need to make since I am able to read netmail properly, just not send it.

because fastecho(?) on the outside of the BBS doesn't really care... it knows to write MSG files there... what it writes are netmails so yeah, they'll be OK ;)

what's your config line\section for that area look like?

I will try and copy and paste this into Max's editor :)

    MsgArea netmail
% This defines your primary NetMail area, accessible with an
% area "number" of NET. Note that this area defaults to the
    % Squish message format.

    ACS Sysop
    Desc NetMail
    Path c:\ftn\fe\netmail
    Style *.MSG Pvt
    Renum Max 500
    End MsgArea

There we go. As you can see I changed it to the *.MSG format to point directly
to FE's netmail area. As I said, I can read, but can't address replies properly. Does a compiled nodelist need to be installed and available for that
    to work or no?

Ok, now to just find out what will compile v7 nodelists under OS/2 natively and
then go from there. Will look around in all the usual places :)

FastLst has always worked fine for me under OS/2.
