• Anybody out there?

    Hello everybody.

I'm curious if anyone out there has experience with the Maximus sources under Linux. I've compiled them under Ubuntu, which required picking up gcc 2.95, but the MEX compiler is throwing some memory exceptions.

    Cheers,

    Lars

You're looking for Bo Simonsen, the only person left alive atm who last worked on the Maximus source.

Bob Jones also runs a test system. There're also some others who run the Linux version of Maximus.

    Minh,

Thanks for the pointers! I wasn't sure if there was any activity around the Maximus sources. That pretty much answers my question :).

    Heh.

Actually there isn't any activity on Maximus sources. The last release was 2003. It will be 2013 soon with nothing. But I thought those MEX problems you had were solved by people ages ago by recompiling their *.mex's under Linux Maximus.

Anyway Bo Simonsen is working on DayDream BBS atm, claiming that Maximus is to "DOS" for him :)

Looking at Maximus, now I know what it's like to run RA or PCBoard or any of those abandoned BBS's. It's a good thing I'm not depressed atm otherwise I'd be
    even more depressed. :)

Maximus is still the best BBS software in the world !

Huh, and now I've learned about another Linux BBS package. You know, I think this Fidonet thing might catch on someday :).

Yeah, I was looking at Maximus mostly out of a sense of nostalgia. I'm not really expecting antyhing practical. Anyway, moving on to other things.
