From Richard Webb@1:116/901 to all on Sun May 13 20:39:41 2007
    Hello all!

Been combing the docs, and can't even recall anything in 2.0 or 2.01 wb pertaining to interfacing maximus with networks that transfer conference mail between systems using qwk packets.

IF I find a pots line source for another qwk network its advert looked to be of
interest to me. THat got me to combing the docs.

Any pointers from Max sysops doing this?

If not topical to the echo netmail or email workable.

    Regards,
    Richard

There is software on the CD that is in the mail (did you get my netmail about it?!) being sent to you that has QWK networking stuff on it, but most of it is broken and/or nagware that doesn't work right without a key. Other than that, unless you're running Synchronet, Wildcat! or some other software that does QWK networking natively, you're kinda screwed these days. I've tried several times to get that other software working so I can gate my own FTN network to QWK.

Stupid question... If someone ran Synchronet who was a member of your net could they then gate the FTN to QWK sysops?

FIgured, but might have a look. Just saw something that might be quite topical
to this bbs the other day that was a qwk network.

I remember years ago a few of us wanting to carry the Musiclink which was a qwk
network. I used to call CHicago, then BOnnie Lambert out in California kludged
together a way to play gateway to fido format, so long as those of us who were members promised not to provide it to those who hadn't paid their money. I was mail only at the time she first started doing this so it didn't really apply. SHe had some bugs in her kludge though and she quit doing it. I called Chicago
a few times after I started doing the hub thing in eastern IOWa then gave up on
    it myself.

    THIs was circa 1994-95 iirc.

Yes, Synchronet can gate between all its supported network types.

Not a stupid question...and yes, they can. I actually am supposed to have one already, a certain Mike Hodgson that you might know. <G>

Yeah, I haven't had a lot of luck with it either. MKNet 1.15 from Mark May should work, but it won't import inbound messages for me. It does seem to export outgoing messages ok. I've resorted to importing messages using GoldED+/EMX 1.1.5-31012, and exporting with MKNet. Of course, this isn't an automated solution... :-(

You sounds like you need a utility called CNETQWK which allows Maximus
boards to participate in QWK-format networks.

Has anybody gotten Cnet Qwk for Maximus to work ? eg. with DoveNet ?

I was looking into it the other day and procrastinated.

Btw; CNTMX100.ZIP is old 1992 crippleware.
