    Howdy,

I know a few folks are using goldedplus - just wondering if anybody are using it when logged in with syncTerm?

If I ssh into my MBSE and launch golded, it works a treat.

I BBS in with syncTerm and launch golded, it doesnt render correctly. IE: The initial paint is as if its painting a big window on a small screen, and then as
you move, the paiting of the highlighted line is completely messed up.

    Looking for some tips...

(I like MBSE, but dont like the editor - so looking for an improved editor and goldedplus seems to be the only one I can find...)

Golded is a good editor, but it was not designed to be used as an external editor like iceedit or editors like that from a BBS. It may be doable though if you try. I wonder if you can pass the number of lines and colums to golded?

At one time I used joe with MBSE, it worked well but when a message was saved there was some extras lines. I don't know if the cause of that was ever found or if it was corrected.

Only one I have used since shareware days - yep and have a registration!

That is well over 20 years ago.

Joe and the internal is good only for online users.

I just installed joe, and it rendered a blank screen - is there any specific setup for it?

    I am using v4.6

You need to set up mbse to use it and more inportantly where it is via
    mbsetup 1.4 - Ext. edit

This should be set to editor.

In ~/bin/editor make any changes you need but I do not recall making any.
    This is a bash script.

As a Sysop I use Golded for all echo, usegroups etc and that is used outside the BBS.

One point, it does set up the language used but will default to English.

Ahh, that was probably part of my problem, I didnt have a ~/bin/editor - and because joe wasnt installed when I built mbse.

I'll have another go at it now - thanks for the tip...

You should install joe and any other package that is mentioned in the docs - and that includes geoip - very handy looking at the logs.

The only one i do not is the stuff for 'Full newsgate' as i get that another way e.g., via thunderbird.
