• Door to telnet

From Stephen Atkins@1:342/13 to All on Fri Nov 27 20:43:12 2015
    Hello everyone.

Just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible or wise to have a door that goes to a telnet session to another machine? I'm thinking of setting up a TradeWars 2002 server on my virtual windows machine and I would like people from the BBS to be able to connect to the game from the BBS. It's just a thought at this time as I can get the code for the door version and just run it
from a dosemu like I do all the other games.

    Stephen

Yep, you can do it that way if you prefer, it's been done that way
before. I think the folks at BBSLink.net run the doors they have up
like that and it works well.

I haven't heard of the server.. is there a difference between that and
    the door?

Thanks for the link. I'll check them out. As far as I know the biggest difference is that the TWGS (TradeWars Game Server) exposes it's self on port 23 and listens for connections. So it should be possible. As for other door games I'm not sure how to make those work nicely.

On a brighter note I did get TW2002 working in my dosemu. Turns out I needed the DPMI version. If anyone wants to play just connect up and from the main menu press D for doors and T for TradeWars2002. If you have any issues please email me either on my board or at stephen.atkins@gmail.com. I've had issues sometimes where the doors work today but tomorrow they don't. Can't always explain it and it's a giant pain.

    Stephen
