    Hello All!

Can all sysops using mbse send a mail giving:
Linux Distro, CPU, active version of mbse in use.

Why? Well if some changes are considered from the TODO list it will be handy to
know what the lowest common denominators are regarding Distro and Processor etc.

Also considering the amount of programming effort required for any given changes it will be useful to see how many users will be affected by such upgrades or for that matter would like them!

Also a list of those sysops who would be interested in helping to maintain and upgrade mbse.

Put me down for this one. Is Michiel going to keep the current Mercurial server running, or do we need to find another site to host the code for us?

My main Fidonet node (1:120/544; this one...) is still running a packaged version of v0.92.0, on 32 bit Debian v6. (That old version of the package installs everything to /opt/mbse ...)

Had a test package of v0.95.14 installed on my netbook, running 32 bitDebian v7.0. (Hardware failure...)

Have a 64 bit package install of, IIRC, v0.95.14. (Just moved for a new job and don't yet have that server back up...)

Now that v1.0 is out, I will be working on the Debian packaging of that version: 32 & 64 bit packages for Debian v7.0 and Ubuntu v12.04. What else I'll be able to work on, I don't know yet.

Same here; at least for Debian packaging. Don't know yet what else I'll be able to do.

Is Michiel going to keep the current Mercurial server running,

I'm not sure what his future plans are for that but note that I figure it can be mirrored to the SourceForge Project... (Already have a local clone of it; it's what I used to migrate to my GIT repo.)

or do we need to find another site to host the code for us?

There's the 'mbse' SourceForge project for MBSE BBS. I need to finish migrating what Michiel has in his Mercurial repo (only have up through v0.95.14; kinda got sidetracked by being unemployed...<g>) to the GIT repository I've been using for the Debian & Ubuntu packaging (currently mirrored at GitHub.com/ftnapps/mbsebbs); I'll then push that to the SourceForge project.

Note that I'll be using the git repo in any case (because that's where I've been doing the development for the Debian/Ubuntu packages) but I also think that it would be good choice for the further development of MBSE BBS itself as well. And although I don't yet have the 'master' branch updated to the v1.0.0 code, the code history in that branch goes back to August of 2001 and v0.33.18 (I did a migration from the old cvs repository before mergeing in the code from the mercurial repository).

We too need to have verion 1.0.0 to be right configured for Gentoo in the /script/init.gentoo file where the path line is wrong and not working right init.gentoo script path line should be this:
    PATH=${PATH}:${MBSE_ROOT}/bin

The line as it is now is wrong and not working.

    Take care,

One main reason this node is still running something so old as v0.92.0 is that it is my hub node and has a number of downlinks to maintain. So I do most of my experimentation and testing on different systems (mostly VMs) and as other nodes or points... The only real change I did for this system (120/544) was take it from the original 'make install' installation to the install by the 32 bit package built for (by that time) Debian v6. It was one reason why I had the package installation install to /opt/mbse.
