• This echo

From Michael Preslar@1:275/112 to All on Sun Nov 13 21:35:32 2005
Since this echo has no moderator, and on top of that, very little traffic, I want to suggest something.

The Lord echo be merged back into BBS_DOORS or something. Fido has way too
many echos with very little traffic in them, and by merging them together, strong, robust echos can be seen again.

    Thoughts?

I'm probably the closest thing to a moderator (I Elisted it) and employ a strict hands-off policy for all the echoes I maintain. It's usually quite unnecessary anyway <g> but there is a bit of traffic now and then here, so ... FWIW

As to your suggestion, I'd end up dropping this echo, because there'd be

This LORD echo has been pretty much abandoned for well over a year now, moderator-wise I think. I've heard nothing from Bobby Queen in close to two years now if I recall right. I vote to have the echo disbanded, but only if mail pertaining to the LORD programs is welcome on the Doorgames echo. Which I
think has been without any moderator as well for a long time. At any rate, pretty much all LORD programming has been dead for well over a year now, with exception of a small handful or two of people including myself. LORD II programming is completely dead, and WT-Lord programming is only alive because Joseph Watson still cares about the game.

Since I've seen no sign in many months of Ruth Argust in the Doorgames echo I would like to know who is taking care of it now. I see little point in closing
down this LORD echo due to it having no moderator, if it is going to be moved to another echo that also appears to be without any moderator. But as things stand now in the Lord programming community, there no longer seems to be any point to having a separate echo for LORD when there is so little activity in it
    over the past year's time.

There appears to be only a few active programmers working on LORD programs any more. Myself, Marty Blankenship, Joseph Watson, Michael Preslar, and Jay Hodges appear to be the only ones left who do Lord programming these days. That's just not enough people to warrant keeping a separate echo on Fidonet for
    LORD I guess.

On side note, the Official Lord II IGM Archive site needs a new webmaster since
Max Larivee has been missing for some 15-16 months now. If anyone is interested in running the site, please contact Shannon Talley at shannon.talley@fidotel.com and make arrangements with him to take over the abandoned site. I have no desire to run a Lord II site myself, but I owe it to
Bobby Queen to find a new administrator for his site, which was created by Ben Tiefert several years ago with Seth Robinson's approval. Donald Tidmore

Somehow I am missing what the term wading means to these others. George is correct in his example, but how do you wade through low volume and topic specific. If one is not interested in lord, he need not get the lord echo, if one is and there is a bunch of Lord spread out through the doors echo, along with all the other stuff thats where the wading comes in. It would be like having Synchronet, Telegard and Maximus and a lot of the others carrying
on support in BBS Carnival. Maybe I am just unclear for the resoning behind it.

Sad days, indeed. Doesn't seem all that long ago that
