    Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a qwk/Bluewave door to that would allow me to download OLM/qwk packets from my Linux server. Without setting up a bbs, that
    is.

For clarification: I want to be able to login into my Linux mail hub,
grab a qwk/Bluewave packet, download it to my desktop, read the mail, upload the packet, then send it into the FidoNet bliss. All without setting up a bbs, which actually may be the easiest approach. But
    looking for recommendations.

With Synchronet and Mystic being relatively easy to setup, you might as well setup a BBS. If you don't want to allow user access, you can do that too. I'm curious, what are you currently using on your hub?

umm... you have to have a bbs to run a door of any kind ;)

why not just set up a point and do it the fidonet way? you can set up a point with three pieces of FTN software...

fastecho, fmail or hpt for tosser...
    binkd for mailer...
    timed or golded for reader...
no need for zip or any archivers if you send raw PKTs back and forth...

you don't say what OS you're running on your desktop... the above is pretty generic but geared toward winwhatever... for linux, hpt, binkd, and golded are what i'm using... i don't even use a nodelist on this point system but if i did, it would be the daily one so no diffs need be applied...

I am currently running CentOS7 with hpt/htick & msged. The issue is connecting
to it from MacOSX & a wireless keyboard. The keyboard translation causes issues for msged where some key combinations just dont work. Its the keyboard because if I connect via Win7 vm & putty, everything works as expected.

I could setup a mystic or bbbs board inside of a few hours if there isnt any other solution.

    Thanks

True. I was hoping to set something up as a cron job if possible.

That pretty much describes my current system = binkd/hpt/htick/msged. Light weight
& easy to manage. I tried to get golded setup but it wouldnt run. Limnited time

so I stayed close to what I know.

My desktop is mac osx but also use Win7 vm. The fido system is a CentOS7 vps box.

You could use a pointsystem with eg. OpenXP.

Yeah I'm not aware of an offline reader for that situation. All the QWK implementations I've seen have been either doors or integrated into the BBS, so I suspect setting up a BBS is the go.

well, there ya go... just set up another using a point address and feed from your main system... you can even have the main system deliver the mail when it is ready since the main mailer can know the private info of the point... no manual operation other than reading the mail plus you won't be restricted by the limitations in QWK/BW as compared to natural FTN capabilities ;)

This would be too easy, yes? Nope. I logged into Andrew Leary's & Tiny's systems this weekend & discovered it was too late. I was infested with the bbs bug all over again.

I Sunday playng with MagickaBBS on Ubuntu but going to jumping over to EleBBS again... Its probably close to 10+ years since I went from EleBBS to MBSE on FreeBSD.

Cant drink here, might as well stroke a bbs...
