• Mysterious HPT error message

From ignatius@1:340/800 to All on Sun Oct 25 15:28:36 2015
I'm using HPT as my tosser, and whever I send a NetMail, I get this message:

    Hold-Msg packed:

    Anyone know what it means?

    Thanks,

I don't know about the HPT thing but I did notice the @USERNOTE kludge. I don't think USERNOTE is a valid echomail kludge and probably not something you want to distribute on networks! :)

Check that you have the appropriate routing so that HPT knows who to send the packed message.

Show me your routes and tell me to whom its addressed.

Here's my routing info, from the end of the /etc/husky/config file:

    "
    route crash 1:154/10 1:* 2:* 3:* 4:* 5:*
    route crash 46:1/100 46:*
    route crash 44:100/0 44:*
    "
And here is who the NetMail was addressed:

Nicholas Boel and his FidoNet address is at 1:154/10

I've also tried sending Janis Kracht a NetMail, at 1:261/38

    Thanks,

a guess says that you have a message destined to a system that is marked as HOLD... either as hold in your configs so they have to pick up from your system
or possibly you've set the HOLD attribute in the message you wrote...

after a little research, i think i can agree... one probably really doesn't want to be broadcasting notes from the users' records that the sysop may make on a user... i found one reference to it in a file for illusion bbs and also for something called pipeline bbs... i know with the notes that i use on my systems, they definitely do not need to be being broadcast like that ;)

NOTE: "H D" above was originall "HOLD" when it was written... quoting it back seems to have chopped off some characters...

from your system possibly you've set the HOLD attribute in the message
    you wrote...

i'm not sure which part of the above you are responding to... on the last part,
the post i responded to was "From: ignatius"... on the first part, that depends
on what options your message editor provides or how you have your mail tosser configured...
