    Hello !

Well looks like I'm going to have to give up ECS again. :(
I'm out of computers, and I need a linux machine for my phone
    system.

Any of you linux guys out there know if either MBSE or Synchronet
would compile / run correctly under "Trixbox" which is the distro I
want to use since it's the easist one for the damn phone system.

    Tia,

Never used Syncronet, but MBSE BBS should compile and work with out problems, provided it has a sane init setup ...

That's good news! I'm actually just in the process of grabbing Synchronet from CVS to see if it will work. Then attempt MBSE again, keep running into
a weird problem with MBSE not allowing the "bbs" login. I'll muck about a bit more until I decide between them.

Also spent most of the day configureing the phone system here, (What a nightmare that was) but now both "real" phone lines, and the Internet line
are all working on our IP phones in the house again.

IVR's and voice mail also configured. Need to beat it up tomorrow to make sure it can handle the volume of phone calls around here during the week.

I vaugely recall an issue with some distro's not allowing an empty password field awhile back ...

    <RANT>

What pisses me off, I phoned the normally "reliable" suppliers in town, i.e. those that will supply you a Seagate HDD when you order a Seagate HDD, and not deliver/send you a Maxtor or something else, and NONE had any drives for me. But not to worry, we can order you one on Monday ... , it is bad, that they don't have in stock (must have been a rush on HDD's), they cannot order it on Saturday, but only on Monday, <VERY BIG SIGH> , don't the sodding importer/dealers/main principles, whatever work on Saturdays? or is it just poor buggers like me who work Saturdays ... <sigh>

Grumble, so far it hangs up on me at exactly 5:30 into a phone call.
Nothing in the log files explaining it... Going to spend today with Grep and log files I guess. <sigh> This is why I sometimes hate opensource, it's just not friendly when your tracking a problem. But ... rather do this then spend $900 on commercial software.

If you not think that mbse poll the nodes you like to connect to the try this command for mbse.
    mbout node (fidonet number)

It should show you what and how mbse is seeing the nodes line in the nodelist. So if you like to poll the node by binkp and it not is shown as binkp then you must go into mbsetup and to the nodes setup and change the section line for how
to poll the node + setting up 2-3 lines with the nodes binkp address.

Just try the command here and see what it show on the screen.
    mbout node 2:236/150
    then
    mbout node 2:236/153
There shoudl be a difference on them.

    Take care,
    Gert

In MBSE. But doesn't matter, I'm going to stay with OS/2.
I got mad at the phone system and dismantled it this morning,
so I no longer need the linux box.

If anyone wants two brand new Grandstream IP phones,

Hrmmm, because I couldn't find anything in the docs about it. :) No worries I had to give up for other reasons. I dismantled the phone system because
call waiting isn't important enough to support. ;) I'm sure I'll end up having to rebuild it though.

Sounds like you didn't turn off the internal linux telnet deamon. Shut that off and Sync will work. (Check a synchronet echo for more help, heck I dont even run a linux box anymore so I'm going by memory)
