• ifcico & Debian etch ?

    From R.J. Clay@1:120/544 to All on Mon Apr 30 19:10:18 2007
    All,

Is there anyone here using ifcico on a Debian etch system? I was
going to use it on a point system, but it's failing with a segmentation fault...

Sorry not using it in awhile now ...

I should tho as the folks in Zimbabwe are using it on an old Redhat 6.o system ...

I primarily use BinkD if I'm using something that doesn't have it's
own IP mailer, but also use ifcico with such in order to support the
other transports (IFC & IVM). Hadn't tested it for awhile, though; MBSE
is handleing the public FTN transports, & locally I've just been using
    BinkD.

I ran the full ifgate application (ifgate, ifmail, ifcico...) a while
ago; was thinking of using it as a point on a system running cnews.
That's when I tried running ifcico (just to start the daily polls) & ended
    up with an error...

Are they just using ifcico, or the full ifgate application? (That had
    never been clear to me...)

I also prefer BinkD, it works, is multi-platform ...

    Ouch, ....

No idea, I connect to them via POTS, and ifcico answers the call ... , the FidoNet part of the system, does not have a direct internet connection, ... , for security (?) reasons ...

And currently their system is refusing to transfer mail, my system to them died from a power supply failure and I have been battling to get a stable hardware platform fixed to replace it, don't have enough money to go and buy a new system outright, that will have to wait ...

Could be anything on the other side of ifcico...<g> I've used it
with the ifgate package itself (ifgate, ifmail, ifcico) as well as with
Fidogate & the Husky project tools...

Possibly, although perhaps they just don't have a full time
    internet connection?

And currently their system is refusing to transfer mail,

That ever get any better? (Don't recall if you've mentioned it...)

Yeah, there system crashed, and when they restored it, theygot the case wrong on my password ...

They (Mango) are a NGO, who supply their members with e-mail for a cost in Zimbabwe, and a small number of local echoes for free via fido net technology networking .... , and due to bad lines, an other problems ...they have it is sometimes difficult to get hold of them ... Zimbabwe is inrather dire straits due to the governments poor economic policies, most unfortunate ... <sigh> but then this is unfortunately Africa, where it takes a lot of lessons repeatedly learned the hardest way, before they get learn't ... <very big sigh>
