    Hey Alan!

A little early but I'll take it.. :)

Traditionally it is released at the start of August. This is the first time I've seen it earlier than that.

Looks to be working and no breakages like I saw when upgrading to gcc-4.1.0 recently. So far only mplayer/mencoder is a no-show but not because of glibc. On the plus side, mpv is fantastic on the linux terminal using libdrm. I haven't seen that working as good since fbdev on a matrox g200 which is probably still the best simply because of changing resolution on the linus terminal on-the-fly. Those were the days. :::sigh:::

Not on any distribution yet that I know of.

Shouldn't be too long given that Andreas K. Hüttel, signing himself as a Gentoo Linux developer, gave the official announcement of the release as well as uploaded the source for 2.40 to ftp.gnu.org.

    Hey Nicholas!

Not on any distribution yet that I know of.

    Archlinux :)

Why doesn't this surprise me? They appear to be ahead of the curve when compared to most - if not all - the other distributions.
