Lucky is a good name for them! They're lucky they have any
customers.

$25/month is excellent for the talk & text! I live in the states. We
don't see prices like that here. My wife pays $140 for 3 lines with Tmobile, and we're able to use 1 of the lines in Canada (we visit there sometimes) without roaming.
But customer support is important. If they leave you hanging because they don't care, that's got to be part of the explanation for the low rates.
Aside from that one mishap, have they been good to you otherwise?

I see the $17/month plan for unlimited talk and text. Pretty nice price!
I like that. It's great to not have to worry about compatibility when switching devices.
There's always a catch I guess. But a reliable phone for $17/month is still worth it for people who don't need data so much.
Thanks for lettting me know about it. My wife calls the shots with the phone bill though, and I told her about this, but she's hooked on Tmobile culture.

Ready to switch back to it?
Someone just gave me the Q10. I was not going to complain. I
unlocked it, installed the latest OS offering and only used it as
a camera, FM radio, and its wifi ability to surf for its first 3
years in my hands.

Purple T-shirts and leather jackets?
I'll miss that crazy bastard.
I forget the model but the one with the trackball was the most reliable model. Never let anyone convince you that all Blackberry's are reliable
I'm joking about Blackberries now, but about 10 years ago I thought mine was the best phone ever. I was reading the news on my lunch break, and playingBrick Breaker when I was supposed to be working.
And now looking back, it was an excellent phone. Rugged,
full keyboard, worked fine.
If I remember right, I was forced to stop using it when
Tmobile went 3G.
I don't play games on that thing. It is a phone at the ready. A
quick visit with the browser to check something is rare. But it
is quite fine as an ereader in a pinch. The FM radio is a nice
I found a compatible PGP app for it. Now I can operate like 007
and communicate in privacy when I have a field mission from headquarters. Telegram is a pretty good substitute as well.
There are two competing 3G technologies. Maybe the 3G you needed
with Tmobile was simply not compatible with the 3G that the
Blackberry used?

I forgot about that. It was a feature that I never used, but it makes sense for a phone to have that for exactly what you mentioned - listen to the radio when you need entertainment in a dead zone.

I've never cared much about phone security. I'm not trying to sound negative, but I think there's little to nothing that can be done about scanners tapping your calls. Or has newer smartphone technology addressed that issue?

I can't remember which technology advancement made me need to toss the Blackberry. This was back around 2011. But aparently I can still use it
on oldschool carriers :)
Like you said - the trackball stops working. So then I bought a regular full-size blackberry for like $200 on Craigslist, and now it's in the attic next to my other useless junk.
For encrypted voice comms, I've heard that Signal is a good
choice. Telegram also boasts secure calls:

What model of the BB was it? I'm curious. If it only supported
either 2G or HSPA+ max, then it is not worth it - even the range
Even my BB's LTE may not be all that it seems, according to this article:
When I moved to my current apartment about a year and a half ago there
was at least 5 or 6 boxes of tech junk that ended up going to the curb.
I refuse to go through that Kijiji and craigslist BS ever again.
..I was selling my gas range, and some guy called and said he was
going to come to see it. But before he arrived, some lady came and bought it. I called him an told him "I just sold it. Sorry!"
he said "Karma's gonna get you for this!"
So I'm permanently creeped out by Craigslist. Just the word "Craigslist" makes me check my locks :)

Hmmm.. maybe serves you right for overbooking your viewings?

The guy didn't say he was coming to buy it, he said he was coming to look at it, which is typical.
Who rents a truck ahead of time to haul away something that they haven't even seen or paid for yet?
First come first served should be inferred when buying something on Craigslist.
Oh stop! Lol... I always take the first $$$ that shows up at my house. I
wouldn't be too freaked out by it but... I always give out my neighbors

Yeah.. that part would be suspect of a lie coming from that dude.
I appreciate what you were saying too though. I didn't feel good about costingthe guy money (if that really did happen) but he was at my
doorstep demandingme to pay him like $40 for a mistake that I felt he
had made and that's insane.
I wish the guy the best though. Especially if it really was Bernard Robichaud!
Wait... the guy showed up at your house, asking for money for HIS
rental?
