    Hi Paul Hayton!

    Which do you prefer?
    I'm leaning towards Firefox.
I use Safari but then again I'm on Mac and it seems to work just fine :) When I am on Windows, Internet Explorer is what I use for the most part.

    Cheers,

    Bryan

From what I understand, Chrome has a lighter footprint, which can be nice on older, or low spec systems. If I remember right, each tab has it's own process, which should mean that if one if struggling, it does not bring your other activity to a hult, or slow your browsing down. I have used Chromium at home. I use Firefox or some fork of it mostly though. For anything that needs flash, Firefox is my go to browser, as Chromium does not have flash since it is completely open source. Chrome however does have flash built-in, even on linux.

i've only ever used FF unless forced to use something else... back in the day, after a new (re)install of winwhatever, i would open a command line and manually FTP over to the netscape site to download the browser instead of using
that IE abomination to get it via clicky interface... i specifically refuse to look at chrome because of it having been shoved onto my systems several times without my consent... kinda like those telephone callers trying to sell me something... all they did was ensure that they lost my business ;)

Thanks all, interesting to get your thoughts. I lean towards Firefox but do find there are some websites etc. that Chrome seems to play nicer with.

Neither. I use Safari on the Mac but whenever I'm on Windows I use Chrome.

I actually have both installed on my Windows machine. I still occasionally find a website that doesn't work properly in one browser, but works fine in the other. On my Linux systems, I use Firefox, on those rare occasions that I actually load up X.

how do you determine ""properly""??? on my systems, i run adblockpro and noscript... there are many sites that i have to adjust for to allow /only that which i want/ to get the site to ""work properly... everything else is crap and
totally unwanted... especially those tracking and ad site references... if a site won't work after allowing just that which should make it work properly, then it is crap and joins the rest in the ban bin... 4q'em if they can't operate properly without tracking me or trying to stuff other shite down my throat...

If nothing else, Chrome is (or at least feels) so much leaner and faster compared with Firefox.

I had been using Chrome exclusively until a few months ago when Chrome did an update and deleted all my bookmarks. This was the second time it did that. I uninstalled it off if all my computers and installed Firefox.

If I were to compare the 2, I'd say Firefox is a little slower, and takes up more space, but also has more security and doesn't delete my bookmarks. ;-)

    Yes, I prefer FireFox.

However I would like to say Mozilla has integrated shitty services like
Pocket and what used to be implemented, FireFox Hello. I don't want
these in my browser, hence using something like Abrowser or GNU IceCat
which are both based on FireFox are the way to go.

There is also Midori, which freezes quite a lot, for me at least, but
when it does work, it is great. WebKit browser - pages load very fast.
