Hey, let's not forget Elvis's (the fat Elvis) redition of "In The
Early Mornin' Rain".... gawd! It was almost as bad as Billy
    Shatner's singing.

At least Shatner isn't taking himself so seriously these days. I heard he owns a piece of Priceline.com. John Lennon said something about Elvis died in the army...

No problem. The rule is known as the Lockyer affect. It doesn't affect anyone
    but Lockyer. :)

When asked his reaction to Elvis dying he said that Elvis had died for him the day he went into the Army. When he came out he wasn't rock 'n roller anymore, just another middle of the road pop artist, bland and boring.

To the extent that he's being paid for the endorsements in Priceline stock.
On the Stern show, he said that he hasn't sold any of it.

To give you an idea how much THAT is worth, here's their price history:

    Touch over 100 in mid-March.
    35 in late may
Peaked at 50 1st week in June
    Dropped to 30 last week
    At 39 close Friday.

50-day moving average has dropped from over 70 to 45.

Anything that's connected with the internet from Mickeysoft to the tech companies and the "dot coms" have been on a roller coaster since the feds went after Gates. If they're still alive in the next couple years, it might not be so bad. My favorite horse is Cisco Systems. It was at 67 when the shit hit the fan and about 65 last week. ;>

and they're at 91 this morning... got a limit order to dump it at 95.

But this is WAY off topic... too bad Gibson and Fender aren't publicly traded.

In past years Vineburg has tried to arrange an east coast jam but he could never get people to come. So far only the California and Northwest jams have ever drawn many people. By far the Northwest one is the biggest success. Speaking of which, it's now barely over a month away, Oct. 12-15., depending on
who gets here when and how long they stay. Hop on a plane and come on out. McHarg may be bringing some more Canucks down with him. Gonna be a great one this year!

The Echo Tapes were fun -- hope another gets off the

I actually have them digitized already... and have them on CD.

He hasn't been here in quite awhile. I got him partially set up to get back in
here while I was up there but he didn't have the point kit Rich had made for him on his home machine. He thought it was going to take 20 or 30 megs to st up up and so he didn't install it. He said he would transfer it but knowing Doug a year from now he will be saying he's going to do it. The only way it will probably happen is for Rich to e-mail him another one and say do it.

I haven't seen anything from ary Smith in a few years now. I have no idea what
    might have happened to him.

That was his really problem in here. After many of us heard his tapes and quite a few of us heard him play in person his stories of how great he was just
wouldn't hold up anymore. After he got called on it he stomped out of here in super huff burning all his bridges behind him. When he tried to come back a few months ago all he found was charred stumps.

You're getting two things confused. Telnet is an application on your
    computer. telus.net is an
internet domain. Regardless, though, if he is using Windows 95 or better
    and has dial-up
networking, he can use telnet. And, as I said, he can use bbsnets.com,
    which is a web-based
    BBS.
