"I can't even imagine how bad his guitar playing was" ROFLAO.......probably has a hondo Les Paul, with nylon strings, and
he spends 2/3 of a jam looking for his finger picks.. the neck of
the guitar has masking tape on every fret....with the corresponding
    keys markered in

Lord knows I'm not much of a musician, but if I was that bad I would be flat ashamed to audition for someone.

Ain't that the truth. But it's one thing to audition people that
just don't fit in or have some problems with their playing. This
is the first time I've ever seen anybody with zero talent or skill
    show up to one.

You've not auditioned many singers then I assume. :) Saw that a lot auditioning singers for a funk band in the early '80s. Actually had one chick saay "but I sound good in the shower". I used to joke that not auditioning singers was one of the perks to playing jazz.

But speaking of chick singers, saw one on Leno, little 14 year old named Shannon something or the other. Played blues-rock. Damn, what a voice. Not a
bad guitar player either. Sings better than she plays though. I'd pick up a CD if I knew her last name. Sounds like she's 30 and seen a lot of travling in
that time. She's gonna by a gas by the time she is 30.

Makes you wonder where these kids are coming from doesn't it. Of course for every Kenny Wayne Sheppard or Johnny Lang, there's a Brittany Spears... I suppose it balances out.

I think the best version I've heard is the Alman Bro's from the Filmore concerts. Very cool!

It's the only Allman Bro CD I have. It's managed to stay at the top of the play stack for about 8 years now. Fantastic CD.

They had some great studio albums too, Allman Brothers Band, Idewild South, and
Eat A Peach. After that is was dregs until Warren Haynes joined them. Now they're back to being dregs again.
