  • Golded Help File?

    Hello There,

    I've acquired and installed Golded+/LNX 1.1.5-b20161221 on a couple Linux machines recently. But in both cases there seems to be no Golded help file present for Golded to use. When "F1" is pressed Golded responds with "Help file
    not found:/home/<path>/golded/goldhelp.gel". Am I missing something or is Golded missing something? <g>

    Dunno what, I don't have any sort of help file that I can see, or any config option to specify one, unless someone hard-coded something into the source?

    My linux executable is at http://cmech.dynip.com/gedlnx if you want to try it (compiled on latest Kubuntu 14.04LTS)

    If you email me the actual path it's looking for the help file in I can look further :) see sig

    Aha, ok, download http://cmech.dynip.com/goldhelp.cfg and move to /home/bbs/golded then start GoldEd. It will compile the Help file automagically

    and should fix your problem. I found the Help file on my Windows machine, apparently my linux box was missing the same file and pressing F1 displayed the

    same as yours! lol Live and learn :)

    Yes ... you are missing the help file ;)

    It is usually in the config ZIP.
    You can download it for example here:
    https://odroid.ricsi.priv.at/goldhelp.cfg

    It will be compiled into a .gel file by golded.

    Golded searches for it in goldpath:
    // Path to the GoldED files. Defaults to where GOLDED.CFG was found.
    // It is NOT recommended to define this keyword. It is better to rely
    // on the default.
