SyncTERM over Telnet, usually, sometimes Rlogin, sometimes SSH.

I am using SSH running from a remote shell. So sort of nested
SSH over SSH if you think about it.

I should check for some software to download stuff using zmodem
and the like, for the fun.

Yes, looks like you were using telnet.

Would like to know if I can SSH from the windows command line.

Yes. Putty is a popular SSH command-line client, but it's technically a GUI SSH client. If you want, you can try OpenSSH for Windows instead:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/openssh/openssh_install_firstuse

Also, there seems to be a significant dely when typing this reply,

    Interesting. Not normal.

I'm connecting via telnet with SyncTERM on a laptop running Ubuntu Linux.

Neat, the editor makes it easy to use colors... This got me thinking. Has anyone ported vim or vi to a BBS?

There was once a vi port for BBSes called 'stevie'. I used to use it a long time ago, but so few users could figure out how to use it, I eventually removed it.

Sorry, I messed up when quoting Digital Man's reply.

He had said that there was once a port of vi for BBSes named 'Stevie' but he had to remove it due to users struggling to figure out how to use it.

    Hi,
Currently for telnetting I am using Netrunner v2.00 beta 18 which I believe to be the most up to date version. It is on my daily driver computer which is actually from 2011. It is a hexa core 3.4 ghz running Windows 10 64 bit. Drives me nuts! I have my real baby behind me. It was a donation to me from the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. (They were going to throw it away, haha) It is a Dell Optiplex GX280. 3.2 ghz Intel Pentium 4 530 processor, 512mb of 400 mhz ddr2 sdram. 160gig 7200 rpm hard drive, running Win XP. As soon as I find a spot to place it I will be using it as my main driver. Say that to anyone else in the real world and you'll get some looks!

    Thanks for reading my rambling!

I'm using a Unisys 486 slim PC from an auction. It runs MS-DOS 5.0, and uses the mTCP/telnet program from M Brutman. If I'm feeling really nostalgic, I'll use an old terminal program connect to an old Lantronix ETS8P and set the port speed to 2400, 19200, or 28800 to somewhat relive the real old school speeds--or at least a simulated old school speed. I think I could also download and upload using one of the transfer protocols of the day. It's fun re-living that time... definitely nostalgic...

Now I'm preferring usenet as I can
