let me link my BBS' chat area with a channel on a Discord server.

There are some CLI clients for using Discord, that under Linux can run
in a BBS like a DOOR app. You should know, that Discord, discourages
usage of such apps and is free to ban the user that uses them, it's
under their User Agreement.
There also BOTs, that link/bridge IRC channels to Discord servers. So,
you could make a local IRC server on your machine, use it as your
primary chat area and install also a Discord BOT to bridge it to a
Discord server ;) Not very easy, but doable.
