• I feel like an idiot

From Charles Pierson@21:4/111 to All on Thu Nov 26 08:34:04 2020
So you've probably seen my message about setting up a BBS on my phone.

I've got to be missing something simple, because as far as I can tell, it is polling, but I'm not actually seeing any mail transferring.

I've posted 2 messages in the fsxNet Test echo, one from logging on locally, the other checking that I could connect via Telnet.

As far as I can tell, they should have sent, and the BBS should have polled several times in the past 8-9 hours at least. But I haven't seen any thing inbound or my messages either on Castle Rock or PIMPBBS when I telnet to them.

I'm sure that I'm missing something simple, but I'm getting frustrated, probably complicated by my insomnia.

Any advice on what to check?

    Thanks

If you want to see what I've got so far the telnet for now is

    10.0.0.4:1357

    Thanks

And probably why his polls aren't going OUT to the world right? I think you'll need to forward ports and either use your main IP address <GASP> or use a service/domain that you own.

Perhaps not a dumbass, just slow. I searched the forums and figured out part of my problem. I had to adjust the event commands and add the ./ infront of them. However, fidopoll is failing, and I can't seem to be able to locate that file anywhere in Mystic's folders.

Is it a command or is that some background function?

Fidopoll has been replaced by a poller built into mis now. The options are the same so use ./mis poll send, or ./mis poll 21:1/100.

I know that eventually I'll have to get the ports forwarded.
That wasn't the problem with polling though. I got that fixed I think.I

At least I received some packets finally. Unfortunately it tossed
all of the messages into all of the echo areas. Back to the drawing

    Ah fidopoll was changed to `mis poll` in the latest version of mystic, but the default config wasn't changed, so you either need to change the config of your events to use `mis poll` instead of `fidopoll` or create a shell script in the /mystic folder called fidopoll and the contents of the script just needs to be this;

That way, the messages get packed up for mis to send, and then mis sends them

You know, ML... I changed everything over to the mis command, but this isn't a half bad idea for some sysOps; whether they are just green, or have tons of stuff they don't want to switch over... kudos, good hint.

I think I'll throw this in /mystic just because, and in case I missed ANYTHING that still calls fidopoll... nice.
