• ibol.mpy failure - anyone seen it?

    From paulie420@21:2/150 to All on Wed Mar 5 11:23:31 2025
    ... I recently removed my fsx_dat* files because ibbs last callers was complaining, but after doing so - and fixing ilc - ibol is crapping out. I don't remember seeing this one, but I'm sure 'we' have;

    -----
    PYTHON ERROR (/home/pi/mystic/themes/default/scripts/ibol.mpy)

    File "ibol.mpy", line 100, in get_data

    Anyone know the fix off hand?? Thanks if so - I always create a .txt in /mystic with the fixes so I'll have the info for next time...

    I had this problem too with the Synchronet version of IBOL.

    There was an IBOL post earlier in the week with the "Author" field missing, and had "-e Auther" in its place. I'm GUESSING that's the same problem you've run into.

    If you find the offending message in your FSX_DAT echo and delete it, the script should work again. But really, the IBOL scripts should handle that kind of situation better (I'm testing a fix for the Sync version here).

    Interesting - OR, it should iron itself out after the message moves off the IBOL main page... but yea, thats not a fix. And, might break if users View All.

    Ok - lemme go try to find that post in FSX_DAT. UGH. :P Thanks for the tip - sounds like maybe LOTS of BBSes ibol is broken this week, then?

    From what I see on my end, Quantum Wormhold is missing the bbs address field some times. Perhaps that's blowing it up?

    It's a pretty active BBS so if the script isn't fixed, it will probably keep blowing up when a record gets posted.

    Anyway to just throw a simple try/catch around the thing and skip any messages that fail to parse? (I'm not really familiar with the actual script.. sorry).
