• 5 second delay on connect

From ElderDrake@21:1/101 to All on Mon Oct 23 06:23:05 2023
    Hi all,

I'm in the process of bringing up a Mystic 1.12 A48 system. I've noticed in testing that when connecting to it via telnet from any network other than localhost, that there is a 5 second delay before the login screen appears. I've logged into a few other systems and they don't seem to have this long of a delay. Any suggestions on where I might look?

    Thanks,
    Jake

... Help! I can't find the "ANY" key.

Need some more info I think ;). Is is a dedicated pihole, docker, NAS or something else which is running the board?

    Which router are you using?

it may be the way Mystic is trying to identify the type of session it's having with the incoming terminal software, from memory there were some options to force a set type of session vs auto detect... this may?/ speed things up for you. Not 100% sure.

    Howdy,

I'm not a mystic use, but it could be DNS resolution that is timing out.

IE: It is getting a connect from an IP address, and it's asking the DNS server what the name is for this IP address.

So make sure your /etc/resolv.conf is pointing to a valid nameserver (or remove the nameserver line).

I have noticed this too. My guess is that it is taking Mystic this much time to search through your configuration files. One thing I think really slows things down is if you have a huge number of IPs in your blocked IP list.
