• Mystic IRC Client

From Ganiman@21:3/174 to All on Wed Nov 16 16:01:05 2022
I have started to build an IRC client for Mystic BBS using Python.

Currently my Python script will connect to my IRC server, set a nick, join a channel and can read incoming messages to the channel(s) it joins. That much seems to work just fine.

I my loop/thread for reading messages I can "print" the messages just fine and they will display on the BBS. If I try to use any of the Mythic write/writeln/out/outln functions in the same loop I get an access violation error, the script crashes and the node session terminates.

I have tried this in both Python 2 and Python 3 and the same access violation occurs in either.

Does anyone have any experience with Mystic and Python who might be able to help me out? If I can get past this issue and implement sending messages, I should have a nice basic functioning IRC client, which I'd be happy to toss up on Github and open source for anyone else to use/modify/enhance.

I use Opricon's iChat for IRC - you might l00k at his code, just find iChat @ 2oFB (20ForBeers.com:1337) or Opricon's bbS The Forze!

I'm not Opricon, but he might have knowledge to help - looks like you need to create a The Forze! account and drop him an email. :P

I found Opicron and have been talking to him. He's made some nice updates to ichat this week, so check out his github repo and pull down the latest. SSL support has been added as well as some other enchancements and bug fixes. It's a smooth client and works well, I like it.

I threw the newest version on 2oFB...

Opi is rad and brings the noise; still love his Matrix Rain mods @ The Forze!
