  • Duplicate file areas in Groups

    I'm in the process of adding new file areas to my BBS. When I add a new file area EX. Door Games to my Local Files Section the "Door Games" area also gets added to all the file groups like fsxNet, Retronet, etc. Is there a setting I'm missing?

    I remember doing something similar when I first configured my system: I had forgotten to add the file group to my security descriptors.

    If I wanted users to access a specific base within a specific group, I needed to add the user security level (e.g. s#) and a file group specifier
    (e.g. z#). So if I wanted standard users to access a file base which was associated with group 4, then 's10z4' is the descriptor I needed to use. The file base should then be listed under group 4 only.

    Not sure if this is applicable, but this was the mistake I was making.

    I think you have to add the ZONE to each File Area security access.

    z1 for filegroup 1 etc..

    I tried what you suggested using s10z# but the the area doesn't show up in any group at all even the one that it's suppose to be in. It's a local file area so I don't know if this would appy but I'm not sure.

    Considering you're using A47, I wouldn't beat yourself up too much. With
    Avon's tutorials, A46 was a pleasant learning experience; A47 tutorials are
    in the pipe :)

    FYI, another schoolboy error I made early on was using Mystic pipe commands in echomail posts/signatures: they look really nice (on Mystic at least), but irritate the bejesus out of people who use other systems.
