    Happy 157th Birthday to Canada!

Canada Day (Originally call Dominion Day) celebrates the anniversary of Canadian Confederation which occurred on July 1, 1867. The three separate colonies of The Province of Canada (modern day Ontario & Quebec), Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick were united into a single dominion within the British Empire called Canada.

Manitoba & Northwest Territories would join in 1870.
British Columbia would join in 1871.
Prince Edward Island would join in 1873.
Yukon Territory would join in 1898.
Saskatchewan & Alberta would join in 1905.
    Newfoundland would join in 1949.
And finally Nunavut was formed in 1999.

This concludes your brief & simplified Canadian history lesson.

    Happy 157th Birthday to Canada!

    Happy Canada Day!

Years ago, when looking for a job one time, I considered moving elsewhere within the US, as well as possibly Canada. I'd looked at some jobs in Canada, but it seemed like it might be difficult to find a company willing to hire a foreigner (especially one who doesn't live there yet), and without a Canadian job or a Canadian spouse, it seemed it could be fairly difficult to move to Canada.

    Happy Canada Day!

I have good friends who are no doubt at the lake!

It's also a RAC of Canada QSO party so the ham bands are hopping with
Canada day as well as the American side 13 Colonies event.
My friend were always shocked that an NY'er would know all the proveniences. (can't tell you all the capitals) wish we got a little more Canadian history as a boarder state we share quite a bit.

I have weekly calls with my family, and oftentimes we'll do a trivia segment, where I read from a daily super quiz from a newspaper I'm subscribed to (the ePaper version, that is).

And there's an ongoing meme about knowing the capitol of Canada, because it comes up as an answer surprisingly often.

And my mom and brother _still_ struggle with remembering it.

To be fair, it tends to me, "I'm totally going to remember it!", and then it's four months later when an Ottawa question comes up and they've forgotten it again.
