The Evoke demo party from Köln, Germany has begun.

Neat to be here again, and I'm excited to see how things go.

I'm only submitting an ANSI, but am excited to see how the compo will go. Hopefully one or two others from here will submit something, too.

It is. It can be loud and overwhelming, but it's generally not too bad. And I do recognize a few people, these days.

And I've been having conversations because of people walking up and seeing my WowCube. Which is kind of neat to show off in person, since it's a 2x2 cube, so the inputs are a bit different.

I'm not sure what that means.

Though the WowCube is a nifty device, and certainly could have images on it. wowcube.com, if you're interested. Though it has a variety of limitations, due largely to the fact that it's 8 separate modules, all of which have to have all parts, so that it can display the correct things at the correct times, despite being separate bits.

And Evoke is a demo party, 2023.evoke.eu, to see it, and watching it is at scenecity.tv/index.html

If neither of those things were what you meant, then do tell me.

Thanks! I guess there were more remote entries than local entries (6 local), and nail was in three of the remote entries. So, while my entry is solid, I'll be surprised if it places even remotely high.

Still, I'm glad I had something to contribute.

Thanks! I guess there were more remote entries than local entries (6 local), and nail was in three of the remote entries. So, while my entry
is solid, I'll be surprised if it places even remotely high.

And I wound up 10th of 18. I'm not remembering the names of all the entries, but honestly expected to end up a couple spots lower due to other people being better-known demosceners or being more experienced / more talented with ANSI.

But I think I might have benefited a bit from being a non-remote entry, as I think names like Lazarus and Fire as groups don't really provide voting pop at a demo party, because those are not groups that come to Evoke (or likely demo parties), so far as I know.

So, yeah, I expect that, if one took away the names, the order would be fairly different. But aside from prizes, as always it's pretty neat to have a solid entry in a compo with lots of solid entries.

And I had thought I had posted my entry, but maybe not... If I haven't, it'll probably be the next post.

So, cross-posted, and hopefully no one particularly minds. If so, sorry in advance.

How far away is the nearest one for you? Demoparty.net gives a good overview of all the demo parties out there, if you're not sure.

I do wonder if it'd be worth it to go to an additional party, though two a year seems reasonable enough. But if there were one later in the year, I could have one every four months...

But I think Nordlicht and Deadline are probably the most reasonable other parties, for this year, for me.

In regard to Function, Maugli is open to pass the brand and opportunity to organize it to other individuals. Something like that already happened to other parties, Riverwash in Poland turned to Xenium while basically this is the same thing. Gubberdata, Sommerhack are exactly the same, just with different names in recent years.

I think until last scener dies, we'll have demoscene and events. maybe less. maybe smaller.. maybe different, eventually online ... but I'm not worried.
