On this day (April 2) in 1872 Samuel Finley Breese Morse,
inventor of the Morse Code dies at 80 ._. .. ._ _ .
Ok, well that blows my mind. I thought he'd be born a little later than
1791(!) and be around a little after 1872. However, while the telegraph
reached widespread usage in the 1860s, its development, of which Morse was an important part, dates back to the 1830s, when Morse would have been in his
40s or so. That's not how I'd imagined it went down at all.
