Hi folks.
Back in 1991 (I think it was in 1991) I had a BBS door installed called Univarsal Mayhem which is a very complex space game which was a
multi-bbs door which populated the universe with other players via fido address's. I have it installed, and I'm needing to know if anyone has
ever thought to start up a network for Univarsal Mayhem?
Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree here. If anyone does know if there
is someone who is hosting the Node for this game I would like to join
in, and have my BBS be part of it.
If you are wondering about the door here is a link to the BBS door game.

I've never heard of this game but plan to give it a shot locally just
for fun. I'm not one to advise on interbbs doorgames or anything but
I'm interested in potentially setting some up myself; maybe this can be one to add to the list.

I'm in if we can get something started. I'm trying to set it up (just basic functionality) in Synchronet and seems to be
working but I'm a long way from routing fido msg's for the game!
This door is something I have enjoyed since 1993. When it was big back
in it's day many people played it, and it's actually one of the most complex space games made for BBS's.
I suggest that you read the manual because it will come in handy, and
I'm sure you will see how much you can do in this game.
Outside of the obvious (at least I think is obvious) you are able to do something I haven't come across for any other BBS or even todays online games which is you can setup a special profile for your ship, and how it will react when you are away. You might be amazed on how solid this particular game option is if you ever decide to use it.
My hope is that this game will be brought back, and supported by BBS's again. I literally spends thousands of hours playing it back when it
came out, and when I took part of Fido in 93.
Well, great to know you picked it up, and I hope you enjoy it.

Are the C sources somewhere available? They are mentioned in the DOC

I installed it late last night and had a brief look, and yeah,
definitely seems complex :P
I'm somewhat of a layperson with some of these more strategic games
like Ultimate Universe and TW2002. So I assume this will be a tough one for me to wrap my head around as well.
I suggest that you read the manual because it will come in handy, and

Something I am admittedly terrible at doing, ha!

Sweet, I'll give this a look. I think some games have "default behavior when attacked" or some such construct but this is interesting.
My hope is that this game will be brought back, and supported by BBS's again. I literally spends thousands of hours playing it back when it

It looks to me like this game is designed intentionally for some sort
of FTN aspect; I don't know how well independent games would work. That said I have very little familiarity with it at this point anyway.
Well, great to know you picked it up, and I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks!

Once you get comfortable with the commands it becomes very easy. I had
a hard time with it at first but after
about a 1/2 hour I was a pro. You can also string several commands in one command line which can make it so much more easier. There are examples
of how to do it in the game manual.
You're always welcome. Take care, and have fun with the door, it's
well worth the effort.

Ok, cool. I'll invest the time to figure this out.
I've become spoiled over recent years where now I almost never read documentation and instead find someone doing something on YouTube. I
bet if there was a true "This is how to play TW2002" video I'd be a pro
by now, maybe someone reading this will want to cover Mayhem :P

Thanks! And thanks for recommending. Cheers.

mind letting me know where you got a copy? the download i found seems to have some missing files
some idea on how you got it setup in scfg would be helpful too
I got the game installed and running. Haven't really got into it yet. Had anyone figured out what address to use for the Mail and Other players
info from other BBSes? Should we be using our fsxnet Netmail address?
I can only make it work properly with doorway, which is not ideal but it works. doorway.exe SYS /B:MSZ /G:ON /K:120 /O:T
/S:D:\sbbs\xtrn\mayhem\ /W: /80 /P:mayhem.exe
I left all that as-is and changed one of the options to 'no' regarding whether or not to use that feature. I don't think we have any interbbs setup yet so it's all just local games.

It would be nice to have someone who can host this game so we can import other players from other BBS's. The game back in

we can do it via an ECHO (havent had chance to read the docs yet) or is
it all done via netmail.
if it's done via an echo then maybe we can get an echo created for
stuff like this? above my paygrade though./

I have just been skimming this thread but am happy to host the interbbs stuff (assuming I can get things working) at the

I've not downloaded any files at the time of writing this nor know if it's available for Windows or?

TL;DR - it's a regular DOS door that has a program that generates a netymail with attachment that goes to a hub. the hub takes them all in
and spits them all back out to the other players.
