This is the anniversary of the very first BBS system, CBBS officially went online today in 1978. It was the first public dial-up BBS developed by Ward Christensen and Randy Suess. It started as something to do during the blizzrd of 1978 when Christensen had a spare S100 bus computer and early Hayes modem. It was designed to work like a cork board at a local computer club and kept
a count of callers. It connected 253,301 calls before it was retired.

Your reading this on the modern version of that same system with a lot more bells and whistles and Internet connection now, but still a BBS.

It would be neat to dial-up back into the past and see what CBBS actually looked like vs. what BBSes look like today (or even vs. what they looked
    like c1990).

So I think a user posted on this thread about it, but I think you CAN. I remember logging in within a year or so ago, and seeing exactly how the original CBBS looked - and could even enter a message on it.

Can the other poster respond if they know the address? Or anyone else - I'm pretty positive this is a thing.

I could probably google it if no one posts about it. Thanks!

There is the BBS "CBBS/NV" that uses a version of CBBS made in 1983.
