• Rebel Kingdom door game

From AKAcastor@21:1/162 to All on Thu Apr 11 15:02:10 2024
Does anybody know of a keygen for the game Rebel Kingdom by Digital Interface Software? Or if there is someone still generating keys for this game? The game itself is available in a couple of places, v9.50 RK950.ZIP and v9.61 RK961.ZIP (I got a copy from Titantic BBS).

The game appears to be from 1994-95, with an update in 2005 when a text file was added directing users to BBSFiles.com to pay via paypal for registration.

Asking here after someone on reddit (Aplos9) asked about it.

Thanks if anyone has any info!

    Chris/akacastor

No need for a keygen after all.

You already know this, I think, but always have a SEARCH on 2oFB 'Paulies BBS Collection' File Conference. It is a conference of MANY BBS softwarez archives that I've collected - from the Titantic BBS BBS files, to 'bbswarez' to... just many many BBS file collections.

How did you get around the "damaged or missing key" error using that copy of RK961? I am guessing it has to do with the Sysop and BBS name entered during the registration process? If that is the case, from the choices above ("FREE COPY" and "BBSFILES.COM"), which of the names is the "sysop" and which is the "BBS name" ?

    Thanks!

The copy I downloaded already had the registration information setup - I just unzipped it and ran the .exe and it said it was already registered.

It appears to be in the the _REBEL.SEC file, it has the same date displayed in the registration info shown when the software starts. The contents of the file appear to be encrypted.

On reddit someone mentioned having tried a copy that said something like "this was a short term key that has now expired," but I don't know if they were talking about the same version. RK961.ZIP 441,151 bytes is the version I have. There's a copy on my BBS (another.tel) in file area 3 (BBS files).

I haven't been actually playing the game here, but when I start it from the command line with REBEL /L it does open with the following screen:

Correct. In order to run the game on your BBS, you need to run REBEL /I,
which will ask for the bbsname and name of the sysop. See below.

On reddit someone mentioned having tried a copy that said something like "this
as a short term key that has now expired," but I don't know if they were talki
about the same version. RK961.ZIP 441,151 bytes is the version I have. Ther
s a copy on my BBS (another.tel) in file area 3 (BBS files).

Also correct. If you don't download it from Titanic, like you and I did,
the key included may be an expiring test key, as was the case with the
first copy I downloaded from the web.

I haven't been actually playing the game here, but when I start it from the co
and line with REBEL /L it does open with the following screen:

    REBEL KINGDOM (C)2003 A.S.S.I.S.T., Inc.
    DiSoft & BBSFiles.com
    ╒════════════════════════════════════════════╕
    │Title: REBEL KINGDOM - v9.61 - Multi Line │

    ╘══════════════════════╧═════════════════════╛

This answers my question... which information is the sysop name ("FREE
COPY") and which is the BBS name ("BBSFILES.COM"). I should have guessed
that. Once I enter these values into the REBEL /I install process (instead
of my name and BBS name) the error goes away and the game works.

Thanks for the initial tip -- to download the file from Titanic.
