    Hi Alan,

Is anyone looking after the golded file area? I just noticed a new release on sourceforge.net including DOS, Windows, OS2 and source.

Ben Ritchey was releasing a 32-bit Port of DOS version for a while, but after it hadn't been sent out for a long time it was put on the "non-active" list <g>.

In the R50/aftnged file echo, these files were released this year and are here on my system:

I believe Gert Andersen, who takes care of that area waits for files to come in
    from R50 IIRC..

    Take care,

OK, well then consider this a heads up for Gert. :)

Hopefully he'll recieve something from his links or he can grab it from the sf.net site. The site seems to be down at the moment but I'm sure the good folks at sf.net are working on it.. :)

If you look at the source tree there has been very few changes over the last few years and this one is mostly extremely cosmetic (date version info).

Yep, I only read the changlog from the post in the golded area. It mentions only changes for clang support. Seems to be more and more important these days for reasons I'm not sure of but I'm glad it's updated. I remember loosing the ability to compile some software because new versions of gcc had changed in a way that made the Makefile no longer work. Most of that software has been updated since at least to change the Makefile.

Multimail is one of those, 0.49 won't compile anymore as is but 0.50 (from cvs)
    does.

I don't code myself and I don't know for sure what has changed. All I can do is
    stay upto date. :)

William McBrine, the Multimail maintainer, told me 0.49 has dependencies that are no longer able to be met, so 0.50 was rewritten and that's the source code one should use to compile it. I suspect it's the same thing with GED+'s clang dependencies (see the PID tearline on this message).

The last time I tried to build the MultiMail Debian package (I'm planning to adopt it), that was sucessfull but it's also true that's with patches to the build system...

I did manage to get 0.49 compiled on my slackware box but it took about an hour
of searching and trying things out. I ultimately applied those debian patches and was able to get it compiled (and packaged). I think it was a simple change to the makefile for newer versions of gcc that got it done.

Thankfully 0.50 compiles out of the box. :)

I'm a little uncomfortable with 0.50 because the author hasn't released it. Maybe it just needs some testing.
