Hello, All.send
I just got my system back online... :)
I co-wrote TinyTIC, a freeware, open source TIC processor, designed to work
with any BBS. TinyTIC will process the TICs and move the files as well as create a text message announcement... it's up to the sysop to get the message into the message bases (using a third party utility-nearly every BBS package has something available for it that can do that).
It was designed with Synchronet sysops in mind, but it will work with any BBS.
If anyone's interested in it, let me know at the address below and I'll
it to you. I don't have it up on my website yet.
Oh, it's available for DOS, OS/2, Win32 and Linux. Written in C++ by Mike Dillon and myself (I mostly wrote the docs and helped test :).
If anyone's interested in it, let me know at the address below and
I'll send it to you. I don't have it up on my website yet.

Send it when you can Sean and thanks in advance,
Sean's still in a major transition. I'm currently hosting his domains which are also still in transition. He's a dialup for the time
being... He's still gotta iron out where things are going to be
pointed. :)

I sent you an email about the BBS site... guess I'll send another one.
Can it hatch files too?

Not at this time... once I figure out how to hatch files, I might get Mike to update it. ;)
Once things get settled down with my new life, I'mhave
thinking about rewriting TinyTIC myself in Pascal so all platforms can
a version again.

I would like that

ok
and thought about this overnight and add a file requester in (both
ways)
I parted with that program, when it clamed a few files have virus in
them (it was the tic file part), when they didn't (from 1:261/38, my
hub), got tired or moveing them, move over to tinytic, if they had
virus in them I would have know, from another program (McAfee) would
told me so

I have never, ever used virus scanning as part of a regular upload routine to my system.
I run a network-wide virus scan once a night to check for
things and in the six years I've run a BBS, I've never once had a virus in an archive or a file, thankfully.
The only time I ever got viruses was when I opened mail like an idiot without checking it. Since I'm back to running Windows, I use AVG, which is has a plugin for OE, that scans all incoming and outgoing mail as it goes in and out of my system.
Haven't had a virus since. ;)
