decided that I should follow Martin's and your suggestion to take
such a topic to the FIDO_UTIL echoarea... when the need is
    overwhelming.
    We'll meet again there. :)

If you should happen to drop in on this echo area... :)

The translation "push" came about when I started to question
Ferdinand about why German speaking people should be the only
people able to use and understand FileScan.
Well, I always thought there would be great programs out there in
English that do the same job... perhaps I was wrong. :)

I use a program called AllFix to do a job that I believe FileScan will (I was told it would accomplish the TIC file processing ???) do.....

Ferdinand asked for people who would volunteer to help with the translation and I said I would join the team. However, until now not
much has happened since we're still waiting for the updated German version.

I got netmail from Ferdinand (a couple of days ago) and he just returned from a
jaunt to Russia. I'll have to answer him and put a "bug in his ear" about updating the German version documentation so his good team of volunteers can complete the English translation! :-))

Yes, I concur that the FIDO_UTIL echoarea would likely be a more
appropriate area for such discussions.... And, it does not seem
to be having as much activity as this echo has received within the
    last week or two....
Well, besides the rules I havn't seen any mail there for weeks...

Well, this will be a start.....

If I _were_ able to receive the filescan.ger echo, I would
probably be just as lost in it as I am with some of the
    documentation. <BIG
grin>> I can understand about ten German words....
Oh, that's a good point to start from... :-)

Not a very good point when none of those ten words can be found anywhere within
    the FileScan text files..... :-((

the !HISTORY file (I am interested in the stages of development
    the program has gone through)?
Hm, the file isn't that big, perhaps that would be a good point to
    start with the translation. :)

I presume that you are going to forward the translated file to Ferdinand so that he will include it in his next "English" release?

    Cheers ... Gerald

Well, if you start discussing about FS in this area, I'll join - until Gary says something against it...

As for the German doc, this is not "my part", as another node asked if he could
do this job. According to a netmail he sent yesterday, he is looking what has changed in the versions and will mainly incorporate the help texts in this file. I'll see if I can hurry this up. :)

If I _were_ able to receive the filescan.ger echo, I would probably be

That is not true: The word "Jahr" appears in this doc file. <g>

For that, I should send the German file to Gerrit at first... :) But I think I can handle one little file. :-)

Well, if you start discussing about FS in this area,
I'll join - until Gary says something against it...

If it's a directly "Fidonet" related utility (meaning it's directly for a BBS or mailer) then I most likely don't have any problem with it's discussion here.

FileScan is a file ticker and tosser, and does quite the same as AllFix etc.

    BTW: Did my netmail arrive?!

Of course. As soon as I have some time to work on things like that... :-|
