• Probably a stupid question

From papabill@1:123/22 to All on Sat Dec 19 22:36:10 2009
Please pardon me if it is, but I'm just not sure. Been a LONG TIME since I set up a BBS, and I have forgotten.

Fastecho calls for a DUPEBOARD and a BADMAIL board. My question is this: what catagory are they? Local or echomail? I know they get filled up with echomail, but what are they?

    Thanks

:) I can't remember what the config program for FastEcho looks like. Instead I had to go on what the .doc file says...

They are both, local and echomail, though they are of 'special' types known to FE as either DUPE or BADMAIL.

I know they get filled up with echomail, but what are they?

Full of echomail, areas. The dupe area will contain _copies_ of echomail that FE thinks are dupes of previously processed mail, depending on your configuration choices. The BADMAIL area will contain copies of echomail tossed
as 'bad' for whatever reason(s). Note: the only real difference with the BADMAIL area is that the problem(s) can be rectified and the mail re-tossed to other areas.

    Cheers,
    Paul.

What Paul said. I might add that FE won't run without those two being
    configed.

Sometimes a duplicate message will get sent to you and fastecho will send it to the dupeboard. Other times, if you forget to set up a echo, then the mail will not have anywhere to go, so it will go to the badmail echo. I set up a badecho area on my bbs that only I have access to, so I can see any bad messages that come in.
    Hope this helps.
