• Echo additional usage suggestion

From Vincent Coen@2:250/1 to All on Tue Feb 1 15:56:44 2022
    Hello All!

Once I have finished first draft of coding for the elist program to support backbone lists i.e., BACKBONE.NO, may be .NA and .RPT I need to have an area to
to report on changes to individual echo's.

Now the most obvious changes are where any one can add a Description to a echo where none exists as initially these will be blank as I do not have a source for these as all that is available is Echo Tag name and Title.

To that end I will post these announcements (very similar to that in ELIST) here but there will be some differences in that the entry will not auto expire if not updated (as will do that within software), MOD name will all be elistmaint, 2:25/21 and is the name that will be checked for within the program
to prevent such expiring messages being issued.
These echo areas will have no password in (at least initially - unless abused) but it would allow any one to provide a Description for them if interested.

These descriptions would go in the .RPT file along with the other two and be issued on or after the first of the month.

These report files would also include the one's that appear via ELIST.* etc but
with no Rules file content - make the .RPT file very long winded.

All the above is subject to programming and your comments as otherwise will have to create a new Echo area for the purpose.

    Comments or observations ?

I'll promise to try and give these areas an inapropriate and maybe obscene description, just for the fun of it...

Security needs to be done from the start and by design...

    Bye, Wilfred.

In that case I will have to validate all submissions - but would need to do that in retrospect any way :(
